The Longest Covered Bridge in the USA

The bridge is now officially open. I think is also the highest covered bridge.

We followed the progress. This was last July, 2007.

Down into the gulf.

By May 1, 2008, some of the bridge had been constructed on site and was ready to move out onto the supports. See Rick standing on the right?

This is the future walkway.

By May 30, 2008, the roof was going up.

Here's the walkway, again.

We returned from our trip and the bridge had been dedicated, but not yet opened.

It was named the Smolen-Gulf bridge and was to be opened the second week-end of October during the Covered Bridge Festival.

The finished walkway.

This is a new and modern covered bridge.

It couldn't have solid walls because of the wind.

It has a metal roof.

The river below.

Indian Trails Park below the bridge.

Come and visit our beautiful bridge. There's a parking lot that now always has cars in it. Must get some pictures of that, also.
